• Hipbelt Pocket is too small to take my android phone

• Shoulder straps tend to slip when the bag is picked up, annoying but not a serious hindrance, it's easy to adjust.
• Price is on the high end

I would purchase this bag again and again and again... I had the previous version and found it as great.
The Thule Guidepost is a superb backpack all round. It’s durable and exceptionally comfortable with heavy loads. The concept of a pivoting hip belt may seem a contradiction to stability but it works really well, the bag feels part of your torso and you don't get that bulky long haul trucker feeling.

The Guidepost is very easy to adjust because of its easy to use Quickfit system. The shoulder straps are well padded and nice and wide for comfort. The sternum strap was a treat as I could adjust it to get that extra bit of comfort while walking. The flexible hip belt feature has become a must in the packs I wear now. The guideposts hip belt is firm and grips your hips really well whether you are wearing a T shirt or multiple layers.

Once the pack is on your back and adjusted properly it is extremely stable with the waist belt giving you just enough flexibility without compromising the stability over difficult terrain

I appreciate that the bag is big enough to carry all the gear I need while trekking in the wilderness but still feels 'neat'. The main section opens fully with the 'J zip" and that's great for trying to keep things tidy. The zips are large and robust and glide really smoothly.

The fabric reminds me of the KCote Cordura material that some of my older backpacks were made from and they never wore out. So it seems likely to be durable over an extended period. I especially appreciate the rubberised material on the base of the pack that takes the most abuse whenever you put the pack down and keeps it dry when on the ground in pouring rain. It still looked new after 21 days of hiking.

A small niggle is that the pocket designated for phones is too small for my phone and it's not a supersized phone.

• The lid converts into a 28L small day pack, a really great idea, note, Not waterproof.
• There is one mesh hip pocket and another that is removable and interchangeable, allowing for different options such as a waterproof, roll-top pouch, a water bottle sleeve, or another pouch.
• Additional VersaClick accessories available eg Accessory pouch, Water bottle sleeve and DSLR Camera Holster for hip belt
• Thule warranty
